Set against the mountain landscape of Hua Hin, this modern private pool villa was designed with a strong focus on natural light, openness, and warm tropical living. The architecture combines clean, contemporary lines with natural materials, including dark wood flooring, textured fabrics, landscaped greenery, and full-height glass windows that connect the interior spaces to the outdoor environment.

For this project, Cher Decor was selected to design and install custom curtains and blinds to complement both the modern architecture and the home's calm, natural atmosphere.

Throughout the villa, we used soft linen curtains in warm neutral tones to create a light, airy, and relaxing environment. The large floor-to-ceiling windows allow sunlight to flow beautifully through the space during the day, while the linen fabric softly diffuses the light, creating a comfortable, peaceful atmosphere inside the home.

One of the key design goals for this villa was maintaining openness without making the interiors feel exposed or overly bright. The linen curtains help soften the strong daylight in Hua Hin’s tropical climate while preserving the clean, minimal look of the architecture.

In several areas of the home, including the main living spaces and staircase windows, custom wooden blinds were installed to add warmth, texture, and adjustable light control. The darker wood tones of the blinds were intentionally selected to match the flooring, cabinetry, and exterior architectural details throughout the villa.

The contrast between the soft, natural linen curtains and the darker wooden blinds helped create a balanced interior aesthetic — modern, elegant, and connected to nature without feeling overly decorative.

This project also featured expansive open spaces with high ceilings, oversized windows, and panoramic mountain views. Because of the scale of the windows, careful attention was given to curtain proportions, pleat spacing, fabric flow, and installation details to ensure the window treatments looked seamless within the architecture.

One of the most beautiful elements of this villa is how the interior changes throughout the day. Morning sunlight filters gently through the linen curtains, while the wooden blinds create dramatic light-and-shadow patterns that enhance the space's atmosphere.

Our team recently completed a hospital curtain installation project at Hua Chiew Hospital in Bangkok. The goal was to enhance patient privacy and comfort while ensuring the space remains functional and easy to maintain. The selected curtains are antimicrobial and flame-retardant, ideal for the hospital environment.

Each room was equipped with a ceiling-mounted curtain track to hold and operate these privacy curtains that seamlessly blend with the modern interior. The installation process was carefully carried out with minimal disruption to hospital operations. This project reflects our commitment to delivering quality healthcare design solutions that prioritize both safety and aesthetics.

This article explores the unique design and installation considerations for angled window curtains, particularly in homes with vault apex ceilings and steep gable roofs. These architectural features are commonly seen in European-style houses, presenting aesthetic opportunities and challenges for window treatments. Here, we’ll showcase our recent project at the Grand Bangkok Boulevard East Rama 9—a luxurious modern mansion in Bangkok's Roman-style architectural community and another project which, honestly, I forgot which part of Bangkok we have done this project. Unfortunately, I only have two photos from these projects, which one of our team members took and forwarded to me. 

Curtain Solutions for Unique Architectural Features

In these two projects, we provided custom window treatment solutions to complement the house’s steep gable roof and large angled windows. Our project also included designing and installing curtains across all floors to enhance the functionality and style of each room:

• Double-Height Ceiling: We adorned the double-height living area windows with an impressive 7-meter-high s-curve curtain, crafted with both sheer and blackout layers. This arrangement maximized natural light during the day and ensured privacy and darkness at night, all while adding elegance to the room’s towering space.
• Staircase and Bedroom: On the staircase, we installed practical roller shades that allow ample daylight for safe navigation. In the bedroom, we chose two-layer s-curve curtains, giving our clients the flexibility to control daylight and privacy effortlessly by adjusting the blackout and sheer layers as needed.
• Compact Bedroom Windows: For the smaller bedroom windows, we selected Roman shades. These shades offered a stylish yet practical solution, providing both privacy and light control in a compact, tailored design suited to smaller spaces.

Addressing Challenges with Gable Roof Angles

The steep, symmetrical gable roof typical of European-style architecture creates angled-shaped windows with sharp slopes, making curtain installation challenging. Our team carefully measured and designed each curtain to achieve a perfect fit for each window, considering the unique angles and sizes. We also utilized specialized hardware, such as custom brackets and rods, to ensure the curtains remained securely fastened to the angled walls.

Crafting Custom Curtains for Every Room’s Purpose

Our approach included using a range of curtain types and transparency levels to match each room's purpose and enhance the mansion’s overall luxury. The first floor’s high s-curve curtains added grandeur to the main living space, while roller shades and Roman blinds on higher floors provided functional elegance. This combination of window treatments allowed us to meet the specific needs of each room, from light control to privacy, emphasizing aesthetic appeal and practicality.

Today, we're excited to talk about our window treatment project in a British-style detached house on Grand Britania Wongwaen– Ramintra, Bangkok, featuring a soft cream-white interior theme.

We've selected S-curve curtains for this project with a linen-like texture, creating a natural and cozy vibe. When sunlight hits the fabric, these dimout curtains (cream) adopt a creamy hue that harmonizes beautifully with the house's color scheme. It's worth noting that the inner layer of these two-layered curtains consists of white sheer curtains.

For the house's upper floor, we've designed curtains crafted from 100% light-blocking gray fabric. These curtains are particularly ideal for bedrooms, creating a calming and restful atmosphere.

Adding Depth and Beauty with Two-Layer Curtains

In all the living rooms and bedrooms, we added double-layered curtains, enhancing the interior beauty and depth. The sheer curtains filter light, allowing a soft glow and providing a bit of privacy when the dimout and blackout curtains are open. Double-layered curtains also contribute to energy savings by offering better insulation.

The Casa Grand Onnuch-Wongwaen project shows our dedication to combining beauty and function in our window coverings. Each piece was chosen to enhance the home’s decor, making the spaces more comfortable and visually appealing. This project highlights our skill in creating custom solutions that perfectly fit our client's needs.

Living Room

The living room features two-layered curtains with sheer and dimout fabrics. This setup allows for flexible light control, offering both privacy and natural light when needed. The gray curtains add to the room’s peaceful and elegant feel.

Dining Area

In the dining area, we installed basswood blinds that match the wooden walls. These blinds can be adjusted to let in just the right amount of light and offer a partial view of the garden through the slats.

Bedroom

For the bedroom, we chose light gray dimout curtains that create a calm atmosphere. Although they are light in color, they completely block out light due to the black dope-dyed yarn fabric in the middle, ensuring a good night's sleep.

Flex Room and Staircase

The flex room and staircase are decorated with wooden blinds that match the home’s wooden accents. These blinds are practical for light control and add a modern touch to the spaces.

Walk-in Closet and Makeup Room

In the walk-in closet and makeup room, we also installed wooden blinds. They provide privacy and light control, making these personal spaces both functional and stylish.

These curtains seamlessly blend contemporary and traditional elegance, elevating the dining space's aesthetic appeal.

This isn't just any Greek restaurant; it has been recognized by the Michelin Guide of Bangkok for three consecutive years for its unique cuisine and ancient Greek-inspired interior. Everything here aligns with the story of "Aesop," the inspiration behind the restaurant. Our curtains were designed to match this distinctive style. We meticulously approached the design, ensuring that every detail, from creation to installation, complemented the restaurant's unique character. These curtains are more than just window dressings; they're a statement in style.

After successfully completing the first contract, we were commissioned to create another set of decorative curtains for a different part of the restaurant, further enhancing its beautiful interior.

Introduction
We were initially contacted to design and install motorized roller shades for an apartment at Whisdom The Forestias. After meeting the owner, he requested additional interior work, and as a comprehensive home interior solution, we were delighted to take on more projects to enhance the apartment's aesthetics and functionality. Throughout the process, we communicated with the owner, who had to leave Thailand and was abroad while we managed his interior project here in Bangkok in his absence. 

Media TV Frame Installation, Wall Mounting, and Electrical

The first task was installing a media frame box for the TV on the wall in the living room. We had to obtain approval from the building's juristic office to cut into the wall. After finding a media frame that fit the 10 cm wide wall, we ordered it from abroad. Our electrical team then installed the frame, connected the wiring, and set up the TV on the wall, achieving a minimalist look. Lastly, our electricians routed the wiring to the installation points for the electric motors, allowing them to be connected directly to the power supply.

Curtain Box Installation

Next, we installed curtain boxes to cover the roller shades above the windows. The existing cover boxes needed extending to accommodate the two-layer motorized roller shades, which required 25 cm of space. We reinforced the ceiling with thick plywood to support the heavy blinds and electric motors. Our interior carpenter team expertly handled this task, ensuring a seamless finish.

We installed two-layered motorized roller shades: a 100% blackout layer and an outer sheer layer. These were installed on large windows in the living room and the windows in the master and guest bedrooms. For the expansive living room window, we used both large and small roller shades to cover the entire area since it wasn’t doable with just one set of wide roller shades. But for the bedrooms’ windows and one of the living room windows, we were able to cover the entire windows with just one set of roller shades. The widest motorized roller shades available in the market by us (Cher Decor) with a width of 370 cm.

Rail Channels and Window Handles

To ensure complete light blocking, we added rail channels on the sides of the window frames. This required changing the window handles, as the original ones protruded too much. After an extensive search, we located suitable handles from a dealer in Northern Thailand, as there were no options available in Bangkok. The new, narrower handles were installed, fitting within the window frame without protruding, allowing the shades to slide smoothly through their rail channels and achieve the desired light-blocking effect.

Studio Speaker Installation

We also helped our client by installing studio speakers in the corners of his rooms.

Painting

The owner wanted a unique purple color for the kitchen, which was difficult to find locally. After extensive searching, we located this specific American brand color. We also painted the living room in a gray shade with a hint of lavender as requested by our client.

Ordering King Size Bed and Free Delivery

We assisted our client in ordering a high-quality king-size bed for the master bedroom, leveraging our industry connections to secure a great deal with complimentary pillows and bed sheets. We delivered the bed and accessories after thoroughly cleaning the apartment.

In this post, I'm eager to share our latest endeavor at Grandio Sathorn (Bangkok). This project's interior design was inspired by the Muji Minimalist Style, a trend that's currently gaining substantial traction in Thailand. Before we delve into the specifics of our window treatments and curtain installations in this project, let's take a moment to familiarize those who might be unfamiliar with the popular Muji Minimalist Style.

What is Japanese Minimalism? 

Japanese minimalism is about keeping things simple and clean. It comes from Zen Buddhism and can be seen in everything from buildings to clothes. A good example is the Muji style from Japan. It's all about simple design, using what you need, and being kind to the environment. Think clean lines, neutral colors, and natural materials. A home decorated in Muji Style feels calm, tidy, and welcoming - the perfect place to relax after a busy day. That's the beauty of Japanese minimalism - finding peace in simplicity. Grandio Sathorn Curtains and Roller Shades Project

When working on a Muji Minimalist Style home, we selected curtain colors and designs to complement the unique feel of each room, maintaining a harmonious color scheme throughout the living spaces. In the bedroom, we opted for two-layered curtains. We used premium voile sheer curtains for the inner layer, and for the outer layer, we chose brown blackout curtains. These curtains matched the room's color tones while ensuring a perfect light block for peaceful rest—a crucial aspect of Muji Style. 

In lighter areas like the hallways, where privacy is less concerned, we chose sheer roller shades in bright cream colors to match the bright off-white wall colors. For the living room on the ground level, we installed beige curtains to echo the color of the large sofa. In the home office and dining room, we fitted basswood blinds that complemented the cabinetry and overall color scheme. We opted for faux wood blinds in the kitchen, which are waterproof and perfect for any kitchen or bathroom. Every choice was thoughtfully made to enhance the serene, minimalist aesthetic of the Muji Style.

Overall:

Our interior design team worked hand-in-hand with our client to ensure that our choices of neutral colors and elegant simplicity perfectly harmonized with their Muji Minimalist Interior design. The result of our window treatments met our ultimate goal - absolute client satisfaction. Cher Decor's interior design and curtain installation team was honored to design and install curtains and roller shades (roller blinds) for the popular Simon Says Shabu restaurant. The restaurant has four branches in Bangkok and is popular among youth and families.

As you may know, restaurant interior design falls under the commercial design category; as with other commercial interior design projects, the main goal was to create visually attractive spaces that meet the business's and its customers' needs while prioritizing functionality and efficiency.

The interior design of this project lacked the most dominant color used in the Simon Says Shabu logo in some parts. Therefore, Cher Decor expert designers were inspired by the restaurant's red logo and used it as the color of our curtains. These red curved curtains also contrasted the gray seats in the restaurant's circular panorama lounge. (Feel free to check out our blog article on the color psychology of red and the meaning of gray in the interior.)

In the other part of the restaurant, with flat expansive windows that didn't get much sunshine during the daytime, we installed black-colored roller shades to protect the customers and furniture from UV rays and add a little privacy for customers while enjoying their meals. This approach effectively protects against the sun's rays and ensures the seats remain in good condition. These black-colored roller shades also added modernity to the restaurant's interior design and contrasted well with red-colored seats. 

In the end, despite the challenges posed by some of the curved windows, which required us to bend the curtain rails, our experienced team delivered an excellent final product. We worked closely with the restaurant's owner to ensure that every detail was thoroughly discussed and addressed.

We are delighted to have had the privilege of creating and installing curtains for Ms. Kuhn Pim Pimmada, a renowned artist and singer from the 1990s. The inspiration behind this project was Ms. Pimmada’s deep affection and enthusiasm for nature and plants, which is reflected in the large number of flowers and plants found throughout her residence.

Moreover, the design of Ms. Pimmada’s modern house presented unique challenges. It is an open and cozy home, resembling a treehouse, a vision that requires careful execution. This family-owned mansion purchased decades ago but never lived in, had deteriorated significantly. Ms. Pimmada faced a tough decision to renovate or rebuild, opting for the latter; she chose to preserve the mansion's originality by retaining the main pillars and rebuilding the rest, which demanded architects' and interior design teams' expertise and creativity.

As part of the new modern design, she integrated additional windows and mirrors into the residence, creating an ambiance that resembles being atop a tree, with a breezy and elevated feel.

With every advantage comes a disadvantage; the open and window-filled design of modern houses can sometimes have disadvantages, such as compromising the privacy of the household. However, by designing and selecting the right curtains, you can have your privacy and still have enough sunlight shine through your living room windows to brighten up your day and get enough sunlight for your beautiful plants and flowers.

As curtains play a crucial role in maintaining privacy and controlling sunlight, at Cher Decor, we used our experience to select suitable curtains for each room to enhance the natural lighting while preserving privacy or use heavier drapes to add a cozy feel and block out light in the bedrooms. For instance, we decided to use sheer fabric curtains for the living room area since they only block up to 20-25 percent of light; this allows for more natural light while still maintaining privacy. Sheer curtains also let the households of the residents be able to see somehow what is going on outside the house.

In conclusion, as a professional design group, we always consider designing, making, and installing quality curtains that will complement the furniture and the overall décor of the room to impress our clients and their expectations. Hence, it's essential to consider all factors, such as color, pattern, fabric, and style, as well as the size and shape of the windows and the visual appearance and atmosphere of the entire home.
